We're All Bankrupt
Posted by Senan
So, Seanie bites the bullet and has himself declared bankrupt. But what does that actually mean? Well, a few things. For one, his creditors can now have his assets sold in order to recoup debts. Also, Mr. Fitzpatrick's future business dealings could be hampered due to disclosure requirements. He might have trouble getting a loan!
I know the country hates this man at the moment, but it's a little sad that events have led us to this conclusion. In another time of course he was hailed a hero, a poster boy for the new Ireland economy; full of entrepreneurial spirit. There's alot not to like about how he conducted business while at the helm of Anglo, but he wasn't alone, and he leaves a legacy of an institution that generated much wealth.
So, who'll be next to feel the wrath of the country? Ivor Callally? Bernard McNamara? Michael Flatley?! And whatever became of Liam Carroll? And hey...Cowan and Fianna Fail, despite being the 3rd most popular party, are still in government. How weak willed are us Irish? I despair. Many countries have changed power pver the past 12 months. We're sleepwalking.
Well, it could be worse...at least I didn't go to Oxygen at the weekend!
