Nuclear Power An Option?
Posted by Senan
What is the green lobby's position on nuclear power? Recently I've been seriously considering share purchases in a couple of players. The first is Exelon which is a large US based company. As a utility they should provide defensive qualities in market turmoil. They provide a good dividend yield, and I believe they could be poised for growth as alternative forms of power generation dwindle or become prohibitively expensive. Also there is an AIM listed company founded by Jim Mellon, whom I have a lot of respect for, which dabbles in nuclear and other such things. Its called Emerging Metals. But as an upstanding Irish citizen who has seen the Sellafield effect on the Irish psyche, I must wrestle my conscience. David McWilliams has also put the nuclear argument forward in the past in the Sunday Business Post, which I read with interest. Anyone out there know what the official green stance on preferred methods of power generation is?
