IKEA Opens Its Doors

IKEA finally opens its doors this morning. After years of 'will it won't it', revolving around issues such as floor space and traffic congestion, the store is finally up and running, providing a much needed 500+ jobs to the locality. As I see it the opening could have multiple positive effects on the economy:

1) Jobs, leading to more tax revenue (income tax, VAT, prsi) and less social welfare payment obviously
2) Those travelling to the Belfast IKEA may now stay put and may also do their grocery shopping here
3) Indirect jobs, in a similar way to those indirect jobs that were lost when Dell moved manufacturing out of Limerick, jobs should be created in the Ballymun area due to the influx of people. Petrol stations, shops, etc.
