Record Breaking FTSE

At the time of writing the FTSE100 is down about 0.5%. If it manages to overturn this deficit today it would be a 12th consecutive day of gains. Something not seen since the '80s apparently. Happy days for investors who bought before the rally, and investment backed pension holders. I'd imagine at some stage soon though that profit-taking will kick in and the prices will retract somewhat.

Data from the US suggests house prices are stabilising. One of the Sunday newspapers (possibly the Business Post) reported you can now pick up a gaff in Florida for as little as Eur150,000. I didn't read the full article but I presume they cite something decent, not just a crappy flat in a crappy part of town. Worth a punt? No. The days of punting blindly by the Irish on overseas property investment are probably over for a while. Worth it if you're after a holiday home? Maybe. You could do worse than sunshine, Disneyland, and Everglades National Park.
